2017 Heifetz alumna Molly Wise began her viola studies at age 9 in the public school system of Fairfax, Virginia, and is now a third-year student at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Jeffrey Irvine. She has appeared as principal viola of the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, and was a section member in the Help After Harvey charity concert for the American Red Cross in Severance Hall, Cleveland. In addition to majoring in viola performance, she is a music theory major, a eurhythmics minor, and an acclaimed tutor in both disciplines. She earned second prize of the 2017 Ohio Viola Society competition, and has been featured in master classes with such figures as Marylene Gingras-Roy and Caroline Coade. Since starting her Bachelors of Music, she has spent her summers studying with Robert Vernon, Peter Slowik, Jutta Puchhammer, Mai Motobuchi, and Carol Rodland. In high school, Molly studied with Ramon Scavelli of the National Symphony Orchestra, and served as principal of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. She plays on a 1996 Michael Weller viola.
